Hi there

Been struggling with this issue for two days now.

I have used this plugin many times and a very happy customer. I have bought and installed the jomsef on a Joomla 2.5 website, updated the url's to Sef and now am getting a 404 on every link and page.

HTCACCESS has been changed to .htaccess and is readable by the server.

The server is a linux server and running off Bitnami.

I cant seem to find the cause or how to correct this. please assist me with this, would really appreciate this.

ps. domain is an ip address for now and not a domain name.

Hi,

The IP address instead of domain shouldn't be a problem. Make sure that the RewriteBase is set correctly in your .htaccess file. Then make sure that the mod_rewrite module is installed on the server and that the .htaccess file usage is allowed.
Also check that everything is enabled in JoomSEF's Control panel in the SEF Status panel, and that the cache in Joomla is disabled during development.

Yes, the mod_rewrite is server configuration related.
RewriteBase should reflect the directory your Joomla is installed in. So if Joomla is installed in the website's root, it should be:
