TOPIC: Virtuemart Category View doesn't work

Virtuemart Category View doesn't work 10 years, 6 months ago #44348

Hi,
I recently purchased Joomsef with Virtuemart extension. Thanks for that. I have multiple domains for each language (2 in total) and configured Joomsef to use different domains for each language. My initial experience is quite good. However, I have some problems need to be sorted out listed below:

1- I have a Virtuemart Category menu entry in my main menu. It doesn't function as it supposed to. Before installing Joomsef, I was getting a list of categories as expected but after installing Joomsef, it doesn't even point to the correct Joomla URL (index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=category&virtuemart_category_id=0&categorylayout=categories) which I'm checking under 'Manage SEF URLs'. And the resulting page (index.php?option=com_virtuemart&categorylayout=categories&lang=en&view=category) is a random category which I'm guessing is the last browsed category for that language.
2- Is it also possible to make Menu Item Association work by linking to category view for switched language while browsing a product? That was how Joomla managed it.
3- SEF Url generated for Virtuemart products use the 'products' prefix like 'products/product_name' for English but for other languages it still uses the 'products' prefix like 'products/product_name_in_other_language'. I can correct and lock the Sef Url for categories but I can't do that for all the products (not practical). Is there a way to define what prefix to use for Virtuemart products in different languages? At least is it possible to use the corresponding Virtuemart category 'menu title' for that language?
4- Also the 'products' entry is missing in the 'breadcrumbs' for every product and category in every language.
5- The option 'use sitename in title' is not multi-domain friendly. Same sitename is used on every language regardless of the domain name. Is it possible to enter different sitenames for different domains (languages)?

Thanks...

Hi,

What versions of Joomla, JoomSEF and VirtueMart do you use?

Hi,

1. Thank you for your report, we've just released an updated version of our VM extension that should fix this problem.
2. You can enable Menu Associations in JoomSEF's Configuration on the Language tab.
3. The first part of SEF URL is usually a menu item name. This should be handled correctly for different languages if you have menu items correctly set up. Unless you have it configured as a Custom Menu Title, which currently doesn't support multi-language handling.
4. Breadcrumbs are handled entirely by Joomla and they're generated according to the selected menu item for the SEF URL, which is controlled by the Itemid value stored with the URL. Use JoomSEF's URLs Manager and check that the Itemid value stored with your URL corresponds to the correct menu item ID that you can find in Joomla's Menu Manager.
5. It is not currently possible to have different extensions parameters for different languages. We're planning this feature in some future version, but I can't promise any ETA.
