TOPIC: Problem with Unicode Symbols in Meta Description

Problem with Unicode Symbols in Meta Description 11 years, 11 months ago #35722

Artio JoomSEF: 3.5.5
Joomla: 1.5.10
Virtuemart: 1.1.4

I am trying to make my meta descriptions appearing in Google snippets more catchy and appealing. Having seen that some sites are using Unicode-symbols instead of text, I decided to follow suit. First of all, I want to replace "phone" with ☎ (☎). Unfortunately, whenever I put ☎ in Meta Description field (JoomSEF - SEF Url [ Change ]) and then click "Save" the telephone symbol is replaced with question mark (?).

Any helpful advice is welcome.

Hi,

Make sure that both your website and your database (and especially the JoomSEF's tables) use the utf-8 encoding.
