TOPIC: password reset redirecting to frontpage

password reset redirecting to frontpage 12 years, 8 months ago #29309

Hi

When a customer uses the password reset in virtuemart
They are being sent to the home page with a message of password or username may be incorrect or may not have an account yet.

How do set it up to work correctly.

Hi,
What is the SEF URL and its corresponding Real (non-SEF) URL for the password reset page in VirtueMart? You can find the Real URL using JoomSEF's URLs Manager.

Dajo

your-details/remind
index.php?option=com_user&view=remind

your-details/remindusername
index.php?option=com_user&task=requestreset

your-details/login will also redirect the user to the front page if there login info was enter wrongly.

Yet account works fine if a customer enters the wrong login info, but for password reset it does the same as mentioned in my beginning post.
account
index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=account.index

Its rather difficult to test, I am worried about clearing cache as we have manual set keyphrases for a large portion of links because of the lack of automation of this in JoomSEF. If there is a way to keep metadata intact and manually created urls (Mainly urls for articles) then I would be interested to here about how to do this.

Cheers

Go to JoomSEF's Advanced configuration (you need to enable the Professional mode first to see it) and try setting the "Set page base href" option to "No - disable base generation".

If you have your meta data and custom URLs configured in JoomSEF, you can clear Joomla's and JoomSEF caches without any worries.
For Joomla: Tools -> Clean Cache
For JoomSEF: on JoomSEF's Control panel click Clear Cache in the Maintenance tab

If you want to regenerate SEF URLs without losing your custom URLs and meta tags, you can use the Manage SEF URLs page in JoomSEF, go to the Automatic SEF URLs tab (so only the ones created automatically are displayed, not the custom ones) and select the "All filtered" and "Trash" actions in the toolbar and clicking Proceed button. You can also filter or select only the URLs you want to regenerate.
The URLs will be moved to Trash (see the Trash tab on the same page), which means that their meta tags are preserved, but when such URL is displayed on your website, its SEF URL is regenerated.

Hi Dajo

I fold the instructions verbatim. No joy though!

I am going to reinstall the virtuemart login module to ensure its not any restyling causing this issue.

Will feedback once install and testing is complete.

Cheers

Dajo

Tried your instructions, but it did not fix the issue. I reinstalled the login module and the redirect to front page on password reset and the redirect to front page on incorrect login are both working correctly now as they should which is to stay on the login page and provide instruction to the use.

What is happening now when a users logins in is when they go to change a billing/shipping address or update their information, when they save the information the are redirected to the front.

Is there anything a can check to understand why this is happening?
