PROBLEM
I'm getting a 404 not found only when selecting the 2nd of 2 JoomSEF Cherry picker types and when selecting to remove the first type

When the 404 occurs I've noticed that Itemid=NULL appears in the URL. I think Itemid=NULL is in relation to a menu link itemid rather than a product itemid. All other URL's are working fine. If I delete Itemid=NULL from the address bar leaving the rest of the none sef url in tacked and hit enter the url gets converted to sef and the page correct page loads.


How some one can shed some light on this issue.

I'm working on this right now to find a solution. Would be really grateful if you have any insight into this problem.

Here's what I've checked in the config to ensure its not some misconfiguration:

Non-SEF URLs and variables

• Redirect nonSEF URLs to SEF: YES
• Append non-SEF variables to URL: YES
• Prevent non-SEF variables from overwriting the parsed ones: YEs
• Automatic canonical link generation: YEs

Variables filtering

• Filter system variables: Yes

Itemid handling

• Exclude source info (Itemid): Yes
• Reappend source (Itemid): No
• Ignore multiple sources (Itemids): YES

The problem may be with the:
Exclude source info (Itemid): Yes
Reappend source (Itemid): No

Try setting either both to Yes or both to No.

Try the following settings:

Exclude source info (Itemid): Yes
Reappend source (Itemid): Yes

In the above case the itemids for the products and categories were appended to then end of the URL but the itemid=NULL remained in the middle of the URL and continued to return a 404.

Exclude source info (Itemid): No
Reappend source (Itemid): No

None of virtuemart category links worked. The page simulated a page refresh type action.

What I can added to this thread is that when JoomSEF was switch on there was a problem with the menu item ID being lost. This loss of itemid caused two problems:

1. The menu link highlight of the rocket template didn't stick to the section being visited
2. Clicking a link to a product in virtuemart displayed the wrong product

Both the above errors were solved with the present configuration in JoomSEF

Please could you try this with SEF completely disabled in Joomla's Global Configuration to see if it's JoomSEF that adds the Itemid=null to the URL? Thank you.
