Thanx Dajo - using your format about it's working fine now.
My old SEF was index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=117
I just copied this from the URL when I opened the link. So now I know for future links.
Thank you

New SEF's while crea ...

Hi,
I have JoomSEF set to disable creation of new SEF's because it was adding too many URLS (RSS, Feeds etc)
So I removed all the SEF's I did not want, then set JoomSEF to disable creation of new SEF's. When I add new content to the website, I was manually adding the new SEF. This worked fine, but now I have added new content which forms part of a Fusion drop down menu.
Now I manually added the SEF, which works if I manually type the new SEF into a browser, however when I click the drop down menu and on mouse over and click it still shows and takes me to the old SEF.
Why is the URL in the menu not updating to the new SEF?

Thanx for the reply
No when I open the non-SEF URL it remains non-SEF, it's not being redirected on any of the non-SEF URLS
Good news about the pagination issues support, will the update be free of charge?
I know the code fairly well, there is no manuually added nonSEF URLs, i think they are mostly as you say pagination type URLS, same for PRINT and SHARE URLS - how do you deal with those through JoomSEF?

Thanx for the feedback, I did check the "Redirect nonSEF URL's to SEF" option is in fact set to Yes already.
When I look at the pages in webmasters tools under 'Duplicate title tags' I see three duplicate title tags, each with about 5 pages that are the same.... here is one "Super User | Company Group of Spas | Gauteng & Western Cape"
Under that is a bunch of links like this:
/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=42&Itemid=131&limitstart=10
/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=42&Itemid=131&limitstart=50
/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=42&limitstart=20
/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=42&limitstart=30
/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=42&limitstart=40
/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=42
Same here:
About the Group | Company Group of Spas | Gauteng & Western Cape
/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=category&id=1&Itemid=115
/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=category&id=16&Itemid=115
/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=42&Itemid=115&limitstart=10
/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=42&Itemid=115&limitstart=20
/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=42&Itemid=115&limitstart=30
/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=42&Itemid=115&limitstart=40
/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=42&Itemid=115&limitstart=50
I don't know what is cause this? And why is Google seeing my non-SEF?
Thank you

What about demoting the non-SEF URL's in Google Webmasters? Will that work?

You're saying I must manually re-direct over 300 non-SEF URLs? Why did Google see them in the first place? Surely JoomSEF should have prevented this? If there is no option in JoomSEF to address this issue other than do it manually?

Hi,
I am battling to set my Home Page Title. Since home page is not listed as a JoomSEF SEF URL, is this why the title is not being handled correctly?
Also, my 404 page is not displaying the JoomSEF 404, but rather the standard Joomla 404 page.
Please help.

An update, I resolved this issue by replacing my .htaccess with a generic Joomla one, all good now.

Hi,
I don't see any reference to the development site in the .htaccess file, here is a copy of it as it stands now:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^forwardeddomain.co.za$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^ www.forwardeddomain.co.za$
RewriteRule ^/?$ "http\:\/\/www\.mydomain\.co\.za" [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mydomain.co.za$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ www.mydomain.co.za/$1 [R=301,L]
I developed the site under www.mydomain.co.za/2012 now moved to www.mydomain.co.za
The forwardeddomain.co.za is an additional domain this client owns and redirects to the main domain, doesn't have anything to do with the root domain otherwise.
Thank you
Gary

Hi,
I have moved my installation from a development directory to the root directory and all seems fine, except for JoomSEF. I have purged, refreshed, deleted and even recreated my SEF URLs but they do not work, all my links show 404 Not Found when clicked on.
When I remove Search Engine Friendly URL's and Use URL Rewriting from Global Config then all my links work again.
What do I need to do to get my SEF URL's in JoomSEF working again?
Please help.
Thank you.

Hi
Thanx that fixed up the spa slider issue!
Issue 2, somehow the article ID was showing incorrectly - I removed the article ID and it's working fine now.
Thanx again.

I got JoomSEF up and runnign and it seems to work well, however:
1.) Home page flash silder does not work since enabling Search Engine Friendly URLs
2.) Articles sitting in K2 on the main menu are being automatically renamed - great! But articles linked to the Joomla system Articles Manager are not being automatically converted. Added to this, when I click the articles now, I see the blank flash slider module above the article, when showing an article, this module is not supposed to show.
When I take JoomSEF
Any ideas? Please, I am desperate, I need to get this working asap.
Thank you

When I take the Search Engine Friendly URLs off again all seems to work fine.
Any ideas?

Ok I am now reading the install manual and it helps! Apologies, after getting that initial error I came straight here looking for answers. Now that I know that error is not going to affect the whole setup I have followed the instructions and all is well!

Hi thanx for the quick reply, I didn't know Joomfish is a problem.
I started installing Joomfish but it conflicted with another module I had so I didn't use it, or uninstall (since it had errors) I guess it must have left code behind.
The problem with my SEF URL is that it is not working. Not sure if I am doing something wrong, let me describe how I did it:
1.) I added Real Url as "index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&layout=item&id=7&Itemid=7"
This is a link to an article I want to neaten up.
2.) I called this SEF URL "soulstice-pretoria"
3.) I assigned the K2 itemid which in this case was "7"
4.) Set ticks in all remaining boxes.
5.) I entered the new SEF URL as " www.domainname.co.za/soulstice-pretoria" in my browser and the page that opens is not a 404 or an error, but rather it looks eaxctly like my home page, minus the sliding banner - clearly not the page I was hoping to see!
Thanx again

Hi,
I just purchased and installed JoomSEF 4.2.5 and cannot seem to get the SEF URLs to work.
On entering the old index.php URL, followed by my desired URL, I get this error:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/wwwspas/public_html/2012/administrator/components/com_sef/models/sefurls.php on line 366
Can anyone assist? My site is using K2, and this article is a K2 item.
