We need this extension yesterday. We purchased Advanced Virtuemart Invoices (from Netbase Extensions) which does not do what we need.

Can VM Invoice do the following:

1. Create VM invoices/orders for unique (one of a kind) products, with custom pricing that is then sent to the customer.
2. The customer will then login to VM, see the invoice and custom products they are buying and pay through the VM system by credit card.
3. The invoices/orders must be visible via, VM History.
4. The program must be able to calculate tax.

Note: Our site sells cleaning services. The most popular cleaning services are created as products, which users can buy. But many of the cleaning services will be custom tailored with uniquely prices.

Also how are customers created by the admin?
I assume the admin can create user, send them login details?
or can the system automatically send login details to new users/customers?

1. Yes, it is possible, but question how far. You can add product, that is not from VirtueMart and add custom description here. You can specify proces, taxes, discounts, etc. Its little more complex, but you can do that.
2. You can auto-create new user when adding order, but currently no e-mail is sent to him - he gets created as already activated user with some default password. User then can login to VM front-end and see order. But iam not sure if he can pay in that time. I don't know if VM offers possiblity to pay after order was created (in order view). Maybe yes, maybe using some other plugins. Generally I think it can be possible but not defaultly in VM, but some plugins can maybe do it.

4. Yes. In most places VirtueMart logic is used for computing tax just like for normal order from front-end. We only create VirtueMart orders in VM Invoice.

Alternatively, you can also create new user via Joomla Users menu. Registration e-mail is sent to them. Then you can select that user for order in VM invoice.

So, majority of these things are possible, but maybe for some of them will be needed further customization of code.

Can invoices created by VM Invoices be paid online through VM system?
If not this seems a big limitation, as one of the main purposes of an invoice is to allow payment.

Do you know of any alternate means to allow payments online for services?

Hello. We are not currently offering that. Payment is completly in competence of VirtueMart. Our component only allows order create/edit, creating of PDF invoices and mailing them.

I think it is possible to make a payment in VirtueMart AFTER order was created, but searching on the internet didn't bring me much clear answer. Maybe some modification of code or some new plugin will be needed.

Creating an Invoice without a means to pay seems like a big limitation.

After searching we found this plugin, that allows finalizing and paying Pending orders.
