Hello, i have a strange problem with the link "Accueil" on my site.

sommetimes at www.tele47.fr when you go on ths site it's ok, you go on another page, ok, then you go to the homepage , and now the link is without www (disepears!) , it's strange no ?

i resolve this problem by using the fuction "www and non-www domain handling" in joomsef but i realy want to understand why this happened, do you have an idea artio team ?

ps: i disable for a moment the function www and non-www domain handling then you will be able to see.

There may be more reasons, but on of the possible is usage of caching.

Imagine situation when a user types just tele47.fr as your site name. He get yo your pages ok (if your DNS and Apache are set correctly) and Joomla will detect "tele47.fr" as the base site URL. Joomla 1.5 does this automatically while in Joomla 1.0 this was set manually in configuration.php.

Now, if user will be browsing your site with this base site URL and you use caching, it is possible that links with the version without www. are stored to cache.

Then, even when another user comes to the site with "www." in front of the domain name, he might be server cached content "created" for the previous user, so then he can see links without www.

We have experienced this situation many times. That is also why we added the www/no www redirect possibility directly to JoomSEF although with a proper site/server config this should already be ensured on the web server level.

However, with many mass hosting services it is not and then users might experience problems like this.

another think is i have duplicate the site www.dev.tele47.fr and i don't see this problem !
