Thanks for the nice component.

There is a crucial issue with JoomSef.

1) Go here:

www.macropreneur.com/united-states-econo.../us-building-permits

You will see that all modules on the RIGHT are displayed. Good.


2) Click on the 2nd item on the right menu, the US Consumer Conf.; below is the link:

Now, you will see that ALL menus on the right are now GONE! They do not appear.

The same issue happens here:

Why is this? How can this be fixed?

This is very crucial issue, since it makes some menu items unusable.

To clear some points:

1) The modules are proparly defined. The right modules should show up on the right
2) When JoomSef is disabled, the modules DO show up on the right.

Hence, the issue is caused by JoomSef.


Hope we can find a solution. I looked around, couldn't think of any issues.


Have you seen an issue like this before/how to fix it?

UPDATE:

For your convenience:

The install is on Joomla version 1.5.10 (also had same problems on 1.5.9 and prior)
The JoomSef is 3.3.0 (also had same problem with 3.2.x)

Did you ever find a fix for this? Since the update all modules seem to vanish on newly created pages - unless they are assigned to every page on the site.

Hello,

yes, this is a problem when JoomSEF is trying to prevent duplicate URLs and uses a wrong Itemid when storing the SEF URL to database.
You will need to find the SEF URL in JoomSEF editor/viewer and fix the Itemid value stored for the URL where the modules dissapear. The correct Itemid should correspond with the Id the item has in a menu.

Very impressive response time.

I read the article in your frequently asked questions, but I didn't understand why this never happened before and it is now happening with every newly created section/category. It seemed likely that it was caused by some problem with settings or with update.

Because the site is not really in use yet, I went ahead and deleted all sef urls and cleared the cache and I'm still gettign the exact same result - modules work fine on old sections/categories and their articles, but not on new sections/categories and their articles. Looks like I'll have to repair these one at a time.
