TOPIC: [SOLVED] Swedish chars and license

[SOLVED] Swedish chars and license 14 years, 8 months ago #11713

I have a few problems with Artio JoomSEF.

When I create an article with, for example, the following title: “Spela på online casino webbplatser är popular”

The link that gets created is: spela-pa-online-casino-webbplatser-aer-populaert

Which confuses me.

Spela på online casino webbplatser är populärt
spela-pa-online-casino-webbplatser-aer-populaert

It seems that ä is changed into ae instead of a.

I’m using Joomla 1.5.15
With JoomSEF 3.5.3

My database is set to UTF8 General and when I take a look into the database the title is of the article is also “Spela på online casino webbplatser är populärt”. Which is correct, right?

Next to that, I have a question about updating/licensing.

When I want to update, I get the following messages:
It was not possible to retrieve latest version information. The upgrade server may be temporarily down. Please, try again later.
It was not possible to check your registration information. The upgrade server may be temporarily down. Please, try again later.

When I take a look at my lisence in the Control Panel it display’s the following:
License: Combined license

But I can’t find any information on the “Combined license”.

**EDIT**

Taking another look, it seems that the ALIAS creation in Joomla messes up. When I don't fill in the alias but let Joomla create it for me it creates a wrong alias e.g. :
spela-pa-online-casino-webbplatser-aer-populaert
instead of:
spela-pa-online-casino-webbplatser-ar-populart

I fixed issue 2. The server had a firewall blocking the IP to the Artio server.

And for issue 1, I don't want to turn on utf8 chars in the URL.

And it's not due to JoomSEF (I think), but due to Joomla alias creation. Has anyone experienced this before/know a solution?

Solved it. Yay me!

Apparently it's a known bug in Joomla! 1.5.x and a fix will be implemented in Joomla! 1.6.x.

For no though you can try the following plugin: extensions.joomla.org/extensions/site-management/sef/10275
