When I click on Generate Sitemap it pauses for a second and then crashes the plugin and takes me back to the Admin home screen in Joomla. When I go back in to the Sitemaps section in Joom SEF I get an error saying "Your sitemap file is deprecated or not created. After you make all the changes, you should hit the Generate XML button."

When I check the sitemap file it's basically empty. It only contains: <urlset xsi:schemaLocation="www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9 www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9/sitemap.xsd"> </urlset>

Sorry to hear you're having the same trouble I am. I generated it with an xml site map generator I found on the web and put it in my root folder. It works for SEO purposes and is definitely better than nothing.

Who knows? I hope so but I haven't heard anything and they don't provide a way of getting in touch with them that I've been able to find - other than forums.

Using an external sitemap generator and getting an empty sitemap.xml could be caused by a setting in robots.txt setting. Are you sure that JoomSEF and the external generator are allowed to access your site urls?

I finally just bought the xml-sitemap generator tool mentioned above and it's working very well.
