Hi,

I have just installed JoomSEF and I found out that my Home link in the site has been given a page name of: page-4.html which I find particularly ugly and unfriendly.

I tried to modify this using the 301 pages AND by modifying the actual SEF url. It will recreate a page-*.html page for the home page.

Is there a reason why and how to modify this to index.html for example.

first, it would be needed to find why the homepage got "page-4.html" alias. That is not the defautl behaviour.
Maybe you could post here, what is the original equivalent for the URL stored in the JoomSEF URLs table.

I am just guessing now as I do not have enough information, but it might be, that you are using some special component (other then content or frontpage) as a default page (default manu item), which is not supported by JoomSEF and that might be reason of that URL.
Or alternativally, there is some problem with settings.

Posting the non-SEF original of the "page-4.html" should tell more.
