It is not a good idea to do it like that

This error is not caused by JFusion or phpBB but rather ArtioSEF. The only way I could get the item to be removed was by disabling "Automatic canonical link generation" in ArtioSEF's config. I tried changing that same setting in ArtioSEF's config for JFusion but ArtioSEF seemed to ignore it.

It may be a bug in ArtioSEF which causes it to ignore the canonical link generation setting for individual components that do not have SEF enabled.

What does the JFusion URL to phpBB look like? JoomSEF should take the setting for canonical link generation into account correctly, if the URL contains the "option" variable.

Any updates on how to get (joomsef 4) to work with (jfusion 1.6) and (phpbb 3) in (joomla 2.5)?

This would be monumental for seo!

if there isnt a current solution, is artio working on one or is this too complicated?

Few months ago we've checked the JFusion support and concluded that it didn't need any special extension to work with JoomSEF.
We haven't tested phpbb 3 on Joomla 2.5 with JoomSEF yet.

We'll add your request to test them to our TODO list.
