im totaly confused of the Variables filtering:)
i want to replace a variable "task=ads.view" with an other variable or just kill it out of the url.
Is this possible with the Variables filtering?
i write my expression ^task=ads.view$ but what i have to do now? I had found nothing in the documentation so it would be nice if someone can help me with that.

Hi,
No, the Variables filtering cannot be used to replace or remove some variable from URL. It just checks the variables according to regular expressions and if some variable doesn't pass, it handles the URL according to configuration (either doesn't SEF only the variable, or whole URL, or stops processing of the URL at all - shows 404 error when such URL is accessed).
So the variables filtering can be used eg. to prevent URL injection.

If you want to change the original URL generated by some component, you will need to modify that component's source code. But I wonder why would you do that? Maybe I misunderstood the original request.
