It seems you've found a bug, when File suffix is set to '/', pages go to 404. If you really don't want the suffix, please, leave the File suffix field blank, that should work.
As regards no SEF URLs for VirtueMart - check that you really have com_virtuemart handling set to '(use default handler)' in JoomSEF's configuration.

i just purchased the plug in, all works great out of the box with JoomSEF v2.2.6, Joomla! 1.0.15 and VirtueMart 1.1.0... the only thing is when you are on a page for a product, the links at the top of virtuemart that point to the previous and next product in the category all have '-2' after the name of the product. I don't see this anywhere else in any modules or even on the generated joomap.

how can i fix this?

The 1.1.0 version of VirtueMart have made some changes to URLs, please, check the difference between the normal and -2.html link using the View/Edit SEF URLs function in JoomSEF. If they differ only by a flypage variable, you can turn "Handle flypage as non-SEF URL" option on. If there's also an extra "pop" variable, you'll probably need to wait for our newer version of VirtueMart extension, where this is fixed.
Don't forget to delete the URLs that might be affected by changes in configuration you make, so JoomSEF can create them again.

Now when i set it back to .html the news works but I don't have .html at the end I have index.php

As I have stated, the configuration is "out of the box" with the only adjustment being made is that of .html at the end which has been replaced.

I have paid a considerable amount of money for this component. If you wish to charge such a price for it then you should make certain it works. IT does not work "out of the box" and for what I have paid, I would expect it should which is why I paid for it.

It has failed to do so and open source and free versions do a much better job.

I hope you can understand. I don't have time to write components like this myself however Idon't beleive the job you have done is worth any time or consideration.
