on localhost ? WAMP on XP (without .htaccess)

on localhost ? WAMP on XP (without .htaccess) 15 years, 1 month ago #8644

I am trying to test-drive Joomsef on my localhost (WAMP on XP).

Is there a way to get this to work without the .htaccess in the root? As long as that file is there I get this error:
Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, admin@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.


How to get this to work on localhost?

Hello,
1. in you want to use JoomSEF features, you need use .htaccess file
2. you are getting the Internal server error most likely because you do not have mod_rewrite in Apache allowed; check apache configuration and enable mod_rewrite; then .htaccess files will work
