I know what you have as the setting (no file suffix) is supposed to work in normal environment. It's working fine with my other sites. The only difference here is that the site is on NetFirm account, which is known for its limited support for htaccess configuration.

Right now, if I enter no suffix (which I want it to be) or index.html, in JoomSEF configuration, JoomSEF does not work and if I enter index.php as file suffix, JoomSEF work. I'm pretty sure this is because of NetFirm and not JoomSEF. I'm trying to see if you have any solutions to get rid of this index.php suffix problem NetFirm configuration is causing.

Or is this something I should directly contact NetFirm about?

we have no experience with NetFirms hosting accounts, but from what you write I think the problem needs to be solved on web server configuration level.

So try to contact the hosting company and ask them to allow .htaccess configuration or to suggest other solution.
