Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_ereg_match() in /home/dhhq2/public_html/joomla17/components/com_sef/joomsef.php on line 2735

This error occurred on my regular testing server which has had a few extensions installed so did a fresh install of joomla into a folder. After I confirmed it was working I installed the most recent copy of JoomSEF 4.1.0 (downloaded 9-13).

Same error.

I'm using:
Joomla! 1.7.0
PHP ver 5.3.6
Apache/2.0.63

Please help!

Problem is with PHP which has no support for multibyte functions. Can you contact you hosting provider for adding this support to PHP?

I have the exact same problem. Do you have any further details please? How did you solve your issue 'jonnyclean' through the hosts?

you need to have multibyte string PHP library installed at your server.
(php_mbstring)

Get in touch with your server administration and ask him to install it.
It is common with every Linux distribution, in Windows, it is simply enabled just by uncommenting the particular DLL library in PHP configuration.
