I understand that now. Last year I used JoomSEF and it was taking the metadesc and keywords automatically from articles and put them in 'Manage meta tags'. I assumed it still does that. Now you made it clear.

So when the setting is "if empty" Joomsef lets Joomla use metas from the article.
When it is 'always' it generates metas and override Joomla's.

What is happening in JoomSEF sitemap when 'if not empty'?


Although I prefer if JoomSEF would take them from the articles. Can you make that?

Sitemap doesn't contain any meta tags, it's just list of URLs that search engines should visit.

We don't plan to change the way it works right now.

Hi, I am running the latest version of JoomSEF, and Joomla 1.5.22

My developer has tried everything in this forum thread, but nothing seems to work, the metatags dont appear in the front end of the site. My site is exhotelfurniture.net.au. Is there something I'm missing, can I get some support on this?

Open JoomSEF's Configuration and on the Title and Meta Tags tab make sure you have following settings:
Enable Metadata generation: Yes
Prefer JoomSEF titles: Yes
Meta-keywords preference: Prefer JoomSEF
Meta-description preference: Prefer JoomSEF

If they're set correctly and meta tags are still not showing on frontend, make sure you don't have any other plugin for SEO besides JoomSEF enabled, that could interfere with JoomSEF's functionality.

Thanks David. I've done as you said, but still exhotelfurniture.net.au/contact-us.html shows blank meta information...

Any other ideas?

And do you have some meta tags configured for the SEF URL?
