I need some advice about whether it's worth installing JoomSEF (for Joomla 1.6) or simply to add a rule to .htaccess instead - this is a single URL problem with Joomla 1.6 adding the Itemid to 'SEO-friendly' URLs.

to become: vision2020.org.uk/wishlist-for-retail/16-local-shops.html

There will never be any URL clashes, as each item always has a unique number in the title.

Would it be simpler to add a mod_rewrite rule manually - if so, any suggestions? We only need this one change for the site to be complete.

If you have limited number of URLs then creating the rules in .htaccess manually can be good solution, as the site performance will be better and there may be less complications.
