TOPIC: Weblinks extension not working properly

Weblinks extension not working properly 13 years ago #26479

I have the following problems with the way Joomsef 4 works on Joomla 1.7. I have embedded weblinks in an article:

-The full URL is not displayed in the status bar, only the category or menu link (although the weblink actually takes you where you want to go)
- Joomsef insists on using the menu item name for weblinks categories if you have it set, even though you set the menu item to off in the extension parameters in Joomsef
- Like before, Joomsef insists on 'weblinks' in the URL
It seems I will need to do some hacking of the extension code.

I also have an issue with uncategorized articles:
- Uncategorized articles get 'uncategorized' inserted into the article and it seems must be specifically filtered out (this differs from the way it worked in Joomla 1.5 if memory serves and is unwanted behaviour)

Hi,

What exactly do you mean by "full URL"? Could you post a few examples how the URLs look like and how they should look?

To remove menu title from SEF URL, go to Components -> Artio JoomSEF -> Manage Extensions -> Weblinks -> Common tab and disable the "Show Menu Title" option. Make sure you delete or update the already created weblinks URLs using Manage SEF URLs page in JoomSEF and don't forget to clear Joomla and JoomSEF caches.

We know about the problem with uncategorized articles, but in Joomla 1.7 the "Uncategorised" is just a category like any other, so there's no way to remove it from URL except manually exclude it. But we're working on a better solution.
