We have noticed the following issue with VM2:

When adding a child product in the cart (stockable variant), there is some delay and then we get the following msg:

ERROR: The product could not be added

The product is finally added in the cart, but there is some conflict or something. Would appreciate your assistance as it is difficult for us to debug.

When Joomsef is disabled, there is no problem.

Hi Chris,

I checked what's going on and I found out that there's some problem with AJAX request being redirected when JoomSEF is enabled. However, the redirection does not occur in JoomSEF, so it seems that VirtueMart itself causes the redirection when JoomSEF is enabled for some reason. I can use the time that's left from your last paid support to check what exactly causes this and fix it.

I've found a problem in /components/com_virtuemart/assets/js/vmprices.js. When the Add to Cart button was clicked, a task=add was added to URL, which overwrote the original task=addJS used by your AJAX cart. For some reason, when JoomSEF was disabled, Joomla used the first task=addJS found in URL and ignored the appended task=add.
I've commented out line number 51 in the mentioned file:

and the problem is solved both with JoomSEF enabled and disabled.

I guess we should modify a similar .js file?

Do you think i should contact the VM team or the Cart Module company for a rectification in their code?

Yes, try modifying a similar .js file. Please let me know if you encounter some problem.

I think you can try contacting them, so they can check compatibility of VM and the Cart module. I'm not sure if the problem is originally caused by VM code or the Cart module should handle it differentally.
