TOPIC: Home Page content showing up on most pages

Home Page content showing up on most pages 6 years, 10 months ago #50225

• Joomla version: 3.8.3
• Php version: 7.0.27
• Apache server (Siteground web hosting)
• There is an .htaccess file, checked with web server support, they said .htaccess file allowed
• In Global Configuration, both SEF URLS is set to Yes, and Use URL Rewriting is set to Yes

With JoomSEF NOT ENABLED, and I go to my home page and go through to (for example) Dress 001: The page name is: www.dresspatternmaking.com/patterns/dresses/dress-001-ewxx
(so I would assume this means that the .htaccess file is working)

When I enable JoomSEF, I get the following page name:
www.dresspatternmaking.com/home/patterns...es/dress-001-elw-xxf

While the page name with JoomSEF is actually the correct alias (I don’t know where the dress-001-ewxx comes from…) the problem is:
1. The Home page still stays there, and the content of Dress 001 is below the home page images
2. The content, which appears below the Home Page, is full-width and therefore not the correct formatting (there should be a menu module on the right hand side)
3. The Menu that is/should be on the right hand Sidebar 2 Module doesn’t show up
4. There is text saying HOME in big letters above the page name (and under the Home Page content)

When I click on the Top Level Menu items, I get the correct pages/formatting. I also get the problem above for many (but not all of) the pages in menu levels below the top-level. Given that I have 8 top level menus, and over 300 pages, I haven't checked every single page to see which ones it is doing it to, and which it isn't, but I can't seem to see any rhyme or reason to the reasoning behind the ones that show the home page up the top of the content.

I did see this topic posted before, dated 7 years ago, but the fix that was noted in that doesn't seem to apply to me.

The person said it was because the categories weren't linked to a menu. Almost all my pages (certainly the ones listed above) are linked to menus.

Attached are two screendumps:
(1) Looks-like: What the page Measuring for Skirt Block looks like, when accessed either through the home page, or through the menu (Blocks> Measuring for Blocks > Measuring for Skirt Block).
(2) Should-look-like: What the page looks like when accessed either through Home Page, or through menu, when JoomSEF is turned off.
