Once again, I spent several hours trying all sorts of things I knew allready and could find about these kind of problems. No luck so far, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with other templates (said in some comments on the forum) and I'm sure it hás to do with the JoomSef-bundle, because everything works fine when JoomSef is deactivated.
This makes me wonder whether it has to do with the part missing in the url (see former post above) and how to make this working, or whether this has to do with the VM-1.1.6-version, since there's nothing about this combi on the internet yet.

Since I'm not getting any reply on this forum or at the email I've sent, I want my money back. The site this problem shows on, is a live webshop and I can't make my clients wait any longer; they really need this working! I'm very sorry, I had expected a bit more support when paying for this JoomSef-VM-bundle...

PS: Could it be there's a piece missing in the url? When i put "cart" into the url like: www.wolkewietjespeelgoed.nl/cart?page=ch...cted=1&Itemid=15
I get to see the right page...

Sorry for jumping in, but I've got the same problem. I've tried the following possible solutions:
- set "server query string" tot "yes",
- set "sef checkout urls" to "no" in "manage extensions-VirtueMart",
- set "page base href value" to "no".
The 404-page displayed is the default browser-404-page.

Joomla 1.5.22 (in general config all 3 sef-settings are set to "yes")
VirtueMart 1.1.6
JoomSEF 3.7.6 (JoomSef3-VM-bundle, see nr: 14406)

When JoomSef is disabled, the checkout-redirect works good, but with JoomSef enabled, you'll get the default browser-404-page, see: www.wolkewietjespeelgoed.nl
