I worked around the problem by

1) Completely Uninstalling JoomSEF 4.2.6 from both sites

2) Downloading JoomSEF 4.2.8 and Installing it Fresh.

Looks like the problem was with the Upgrade functionality and not the Package itself.

Anyone else having a problem updating JoomSEF under Joomla 2.5.6 ?
I have JoomSEF 4.2.6 installed and working.

In Joomla Admin, Exyention Manager : Update it tells / shows me an Update is available to JoomSEF 4.2.8. If I select Upgrade I get an Error. XML error: syntax error at line 1

This occurs for 2 sites I maintain.

Any ideas ?
