uncommenting something means that you should remove # before the line
like:

COMMENTED
# RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(/component/option,com) [NC,OR] ##optional - see notes##

UNCOMMENTED
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (/|\.htm|\.php|\.html|/[^.]*)$ [NC]


i am having a problem once i rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess
i get \"Error 500\"

does anyone knows what am i doing wrong ?
