This worked for me guys, neopablix you are a legend. All I did was save the .htaccess file to my desktop then opened it with my preferred text editor and pasted the above code into the file. I have attached my .htaccess file so you can just add it in to your sites to see if that works.
Remember to back up your own .htaccess file just in-case it doesn't work.

Gary

Hiya Ian, I have the same issue as yourself and have also posted on here, to no avail. My frontpage is working but getting 404 header on the rest of the pages, I'm totally stumped and Looks like the support is non extension here so i might install sh404SEF which is suppose to be another good extension.
Check it out here dev.anything-digital.com/sh404SEF/.
But if you get this solved can you let me know.

Hi all I am having Major issues with my attempt and SEO'ing a site I have created. I have install JoomSEF and everything installed fine I have set up a few custom urls and i have also selected auto SEF on the rest of the urls. Within joomla I have enabled 'Apache mod rewrites' and also SEF to yes (See attached picture for settings) and every thing looks good with no errors.
BUT.. when I try to view my site the main page loads fine but all the other pages show a 404 error. I've tried a few different configurations and have also searched these boards for a solution but no one gives a straight answer.
Attached is a collection of photos showing my current configuration both in Joomsef and Joomla.
I have spoken to my hosting company and they assure me that rewrites are enables on the .htaccess file
Am I missing something really obvious?
Any help is much appreciated
Kindest Regards
Gary
P.s. my site address is /p://www.minecamps.com.au/
