If I understand you correctly what you want to do is this:

URL manager->custom SEF URLs tab

choose the ones you want to delete.

Go to the top of that page and you will find two drop down menus.

Here you can choose what you want to do.

I would like to have this:

when the site loads to the frontpage or when I click on "home"

to reflect the title of the content of the front-/homeage instead of:
www.jungfrau-guide.ch/

I edited the homepage URL in URL manager but nothing changes.

The empty htaccess file was the culprit. See also:

Hello Jan and thank you for the input. I uploaded a htaccess from another joomla site I run and renamed it. seems to be working :))

I will be testing further on some sites with languages and VM.

I am getting the same issue.

I am using the default settings in latest version of joomSEF

jfrouter is disabled.

Hello, I am new here so please be patient :)

When I have the JoomSEF enabled with all the default settings and activate sef in site->global I get a "no page found" message.

My .htaccess file is empty (?!)

What could be the problem here?

Joomla version 1.5.18
