TOPIC: UTF-8 URLs

UTF-8 URLs 15 years, 2 months ago #8581

We just installed the latest JoomSEF (3.4.2) on a Joomla 1.5.14 installation. In order to make use of the new, UTF-8 URLs function, we had to clear the non-ascii substitution entry.

The URLs are generated with UTF-8 characters, however no content can be accessed. We always get a 404 error where UTF-8 URLs are used.

Any ideas?

What type of 404 do you get.
The one defined in Joomla or general webserver one?
Does your webserver support the UTF-8 URLs as well? What is its default encoding? Does it preserve the non-ascii characters when processing the request?

We get the Joomla 404 error. The webserver is IIS6 under Windows 2003 with Greek as the default locale (ISO-8859-7).

Hmm, this might be quite difficult. I do not know if IIS can handle UTF-8 URLs.
Also, what Rewriting engine do you use?
Could you gather more debugging information? (logs from IIS / Rewrite)
