TOPIC: Not working

Not working 13 years, 8 months ago #20465

JoomSEF appears to not be working. If I have it disabled, then my SEF url's are fine with the standard joomla features, but whenever I turn on JoomSEF, I get 404 or a redirect back to the home page with every link.

Installed and uninstalled multiple times. Installed directly from Artio server. Tried uninstalling components that I though would conflict and still not working. I do have RS Firewall Pro installed on the site

Anyone have any idea what is going on or what I may be doing wrong?

Recap:

  1. SEF works with JoomSEF turned off
  2. Get 404 with JoomSEF turn on

Ok, after beating my head against the wall, reading through the forums, reading the manual for JoomSEF, I finally fixed the issue.

If you install Artio JoomSEF and after editing a URL under "Manage URL's" and then you get 404 page not found, go into the Plugin settings and disable the "System - SEF" plugin. There seems to be a conflict.

Now, I didn't see this anywhere in the manual unless I was looking in the wrong location, but I think this should be one of the main points to be aware of when installing.

My apologies if I overlooked any documentation, but just in case someone else can't find it, hopefully this will help.

Hello,
the system SEF plugin should not be the source of this problem, unless there are some other add-ons linked to it that might be conflicting with JoomSEF.

404 is mostly cause by wrong RewriteBase value or some other path-related problem (e.g. wrong site base URL generated).

yeah, thought about that, which is why I uninstalled pretty much every component and addon that I could think of and once the system-SEF plugin was unpublished, voila, it worked.

I am surprised that noone else has had this problem and that no admins have responded to either this post or my email within 48 hours.

Good thing I figured it out on my own.
