TOPIC: How to remove index.php from URL's?

How to remove index.php from URL's? 13 years, 8 months ago #20980

Hi,
First, my order ID: 16313

Now on to my question. This is for JoomSEF 4.0.1, Joomla 1.6.1 running on IIS7 under Windows Server 2008 with the native URL Rewrite component for IIS installed.

I've dug through the settings, read many threads, and cannot find where the option to prevent index.php from displaying is set. Maybe I'm blind - that's entirely possible.

I would like that pesky index.php to go away thank you very much.

Thanks!!!

Hello,
this probably means you do not have all the SEO settings in Joomla Global configuration set to yes.

Make sure the "Use Apache mod_rewrite" option is set to YES.
Also make sure you have the neccessary redirect rules in your IIS7 configuration.

doh. i thought the global site mod-rewrite was on. it swas off. turning it on, home page works with no index.php, but then none of the content links work - 404 errors.

i purged the SEF urls and purged the cache with same results.

do you have a default iis7 rewrite rules sut for the native URL Rewrite component?

thanks!

Hello,

IIS7 does support the same syntax as is included in the htaccess.txt file (.htaccess) distributed with Joomla. So only reuse those in IIS7 configuration (or using a file that IIS7 supports).
