If i use the new Manage Metatag function (that sound great) then Purge SEF URL, the custom tags are lost :(

For this Manage Metatag function a copy function (to copy metatags from first to all others) would be great!
Or a kind of Metatags templates that can be used to quickly generate metatags ... ;)

well if you want your metatags to have some weight, you should try to make sure they are individual for each page and reflect its real content.
So I thing a massive metatag duplicated or copy tools would be rather anti-SEO then SEO tools.
Anyway, with the 3.6.1 Metatag editor, the editing / insterting should be much faster then it was before.

Do we have to lock SEF URL to keep custom redirect and meta ?

Yes, or when purging, you need to make sure not tu purge the ones where you have entered the metas.

In fact, purging should be a very seldom used functionality - basicly only when you do a major reconfiguration or setup and you want to brand new URLs. Once you URLs get indexed, you should use this with extreme care!
If you hit same problem with specific URL, you should try to use the URL manager to see what the problem is. (e.g. wrongly stored Itemid value, mulptiple records for 1 SEF URL, etc.)

To prevent accidental deletion of URLs with custom data, the lock is the best way. Anyway, neither URLs marked as "Custom" should be deleted on general purge.

ok so why a SEF URL don't become a custom one when metatag is personnalized ??
