After removing the upgrade folder from the zip file the plugin finally installed.

Everything works well except that the urls have ?order=0&expand=-1 tacked onto the end of each category url.

When I look in the "View/Edit Custom Redirects" I do not see this addition. Only in the frontend.

this is due to "append non-sef variable" setting turned on.
You may try changing this, but I recommend to leave it this way.

This only occurs at the category level. I'm not clicking on any links that calculate, search or filter anything. It occurs simply by going to the category itself. Without the SEF plugin the additional code is not appended anywhere. Why would it suddenly be appended to the main URL when I'm not performing any function other than clicking on the category's link?

(?order=0&expand=0) This same string appears for all categories. I've not selected an order or expanded anything. I assume the 0's mean the default designation. This did not show up anywhere in the url before the plugin was installed.

I'm looking for a way to get the plugin I paid for to not append unnecessary code that performs no function. Maybe this is on Ad Manager's end? Any ideas on a fix?

Yes, this is primarily depending on AdManager how it creates its URLs.
If you would remove these veriables, although they may seem "useless" then you might be for example not able to return back to first page.
Our plugin only does the best to make the URL SEO friendly, but we cannot just modify them. The compoennt might then not work correctly.
