Please help.

I have Joomla 1.5 with a Rockettheme installed that has a side menu that is unique based on the top-menu item selected.

I created the site on a test server, installed JoomSEF and all was fine, untill, after moving the site to the production site. When I now try to add items to the side-menu, selecting the new item on the side menu loads the correct page, but it does not load the side-menu again.

I have tried manually adding that particular page in the list of SEF URL's in JoomSEF admin, but nothing seems to help. Joomla itself is correctly configured wrt indicating on that particular page that it should load the side-menu in question, but I think for some reason, the category id ( which I'm assuming is used by Joomla to determine when to load the side-menu) is not working anymore due to SEF?

I have stopped short of flushing the SEF URL's because I'm not sure what the dangers are of doing that on a live site. Is it wise to do this? Are there any dangers in doing it, are there "backups" I can do?
