TOPIC: Questions about ArtioSEF

Questions about ArtioSEF 17 years, 2 months ago #3214

Hi all,

I'm actually testing this component and others (OpenSEF, SEF Advance).

Some questions after first tests :

- Is there a way for html filename to be rename with article title or name instead than with category name ?

For example i have a category call mycategory and inside some articles...
When i display article the URL is :
www.mysite.com/mysection/mycategory/mycategory.html
or the second article :
www.mysite.com/mysection/mycategory/mycategory2.html

I would want :
www.mysite.com/mysection/mycategory/myarticlename.html

SEF Advance do that ...

- Another thing : All latin character like é è or à are replaced in admin titles by other symbols ...
Is you DB and files coded in Unicode ?

Thanks for your Answer.<br><br>Post edited by: Pascal_Netenvie, at: 2007/10/10 14:44

Hello Pascal,

URL in form of
www.mysite.com/mysection/mycategory/myarticlename.html
is a default behaviour (except that you have to enable section to show up there, which is off by default).

If you have URL in form of:
www.mysite.com/mysection/mycategory/mycategory.html
then either it is not an article, or there has been something done wrong... in such case, try deleting such URL in the URL list and let JoomSEF regenerate it.

All latin character like é è or à are replaced in admin titles by other symbols
-- yes, this may be setup in the configuration of JoomSEF.

By default, the characters are stored in UTF-8, but if you reedit them and resave, they will be stored in encoding your site is using. So this may not work 100% correct with default installation if your encoding is not UTF-8, but after resaving and purging already generated URL, is should work fine in any encoding.

Best regards,
michal

Hi,

Thanks for your fast reply.

URl problem is solved. I have just disable and re enable section option and it was ok. Perhaps some cache problem or a thing like that.

For characters problem this appear in options field as well as in Titles of fields.
All Latin characters ar gone ...
For example \&quot;é\&quot; is replaced EVERYWHERE by \&quot; \&quot;
There is no problem in URL as we have changed Characters in the Characters Replacement field.

Is there some ways to solve this problem and also manually translate some titles that still are in English (shoul be better for our customers ...) ?

Hello,

this may be caused by different encoding in JoomSEF settings and your site. JoomSEF is distributed by default in UTF-8 and also the configuration file, including the character translation definitions are in UTF-8.

Therefore, if your site is using other encoding, you may need to redefine and resave the character translation definitions for your site encoding. You will find those in JoomSEF configuration.

Michal
