TOPIC: Joomsef on IIS7 - Best practice

Joomsef on IIS7 - Best practice 14 years, 11 months ago #10139

Hello

I see on the infopage about Joomsef:

"Both JoomSEF 3.x and 2.x will run on Windows and Linux systems and they support both Apache and IIS servers (tested on IIS5, IIS6 and IIS7)."

What is the best practice to install Joomsef on IIS7 and enable correct URL-rewriting?

- use the IIS7 Rewrite module
- use IIFR from Ionic
- use Helicontech Ape (or Isapi_rewrite)

I prefer the IIS7 Rewrite module. Is this a good idea and do you Artio tech guys have some correct rules I can use with this module?

Regards.

Hello,

we have always runned JoomSEF with Helicon's ISAPI Rewrite module.
V3 is ideal, as it support the same rules as Apache uses, so no changes are needed. (except maybe so small adjustments if using free version)

As regards the other options, they can cerainly be used as well, but you will need to adjust the Joomla .htaccess rules so they work fine with the specific rewrite module.
