TOPIC: JoomSEF Install Errors

JoomSEF Install Errors 18 years, 3 months ago #229

hi I'm having trouble installing joomSEF 1.2.4 on my joomla site (1.0.11).

I have uninstalled all previous SEF components that I experimented with (and manually removed the components/com_sef directory because it caused problems during install (same as second error below)

I get this error:

Warning: copy(/home/www/web50/html/mlmprod/administrator/components/com_sef/404SEF_cpanel.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/www/web50/html/mlmprod/administrator/components/com_installer/installer.class.php on line 356

Warning: copy(/home/www/web50/html/mlmprod/administrator/components/com_sef/install.sef.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/www/web50/html/mlmprod/administrator/components/com_installer/installer.class.php on line 356

Upload component - Failed

Oddly, it installs a fair number of files, but with a abnormal user name (www-data) which might be part of the problem. Changing the permissions of the directories involved does not help, nor does trying to re install it without removing the directory first - I then get this error

Upload component - Failed
Another component is already using directory: "/home/www/web50/html/mlmprod/components/com_sef/"

I want to use joomSEF because I am using joomfish, and it seems to be the only solution available.

Do you have any ideas how I can solve this problem

I just solved this problem myself:

there are two components/com_sef directories:

administrator/components/com_sef

and

components/com_sef

after manually removing them both the install worked.
