Is the SMF forum bridge also compatible? 18 years, 4 months ago #1

Hi,

The SMF forum is a real, sophisticated forum. Is it possible to use the SMF joomla bridge together with JOOMSEF for full URL's?

Thanks,
Ron

Hello,

hello I am not sure how this SMF bridge is working as we haven't tested it yet, but unless it is mapping the forum categories to Joomla! categories, then probably a special component definition such as we have e.g. for DocMan would be needed to make JoomSEF cooperate with it.

Michal.

Thanks,

So, for all 3rth party components you need a special SEF script?

bye,
Ron

No, not really. By default the module will generate SEF URLs composed of the extension name and some other commonly used parameters. But if the module has specific features (like Joomlaboard forums has own categories and messages), which you want to use for structuring (e.g. gallery names), you need special handlers to work with those properly and logically.

So you can try how the modules behives by default, and if you don't like the results or want it better, than it will be neccessary to write special handlers. The handlers can be part of the SEF module (as we supply now for DocMan and Joomlaboard) or they can be also part of the 3rd party module, then the modules should integrate seamlessly.

Michal

I am very interested in SMF support, as well as Gallery2 support. Thus far it has not worked out of the box, so to speak. I am willing to learn how to write support, but I have no idea where to go from here.

Any direction from you guys would be fantastic.

Post edited by: dshanklin, at: 2006/09/17 21:37
