Hint: To define title and/or meta tags for your homepage (that has not really an URL generated by SEF, but composes just from your site base URL), create a new entry in the URL list where the SEF URL will stay blank and the original URL will say just index.php.

OBX, thank you for your active involvement with this issue. I can tell this issue is very simple for you but myself and others are having trouble following. You may have to take our hand and guide us a little further.

I attempted to impliment your solution and JoomSEF says: "This URL already exists in the database!"
But I dont see it!?

i dont completely understand your last post. maybe a screen shot or a direct quote from joomsef would help.

do a custom SEF:

Real URL: index.php?option=com_frontpage

SEF URL: empty

Make site title: Whatever name you want

If you make it empty, I believe it should just display Site name. Just make sure you do a space or something. On my site I purposely renamed the Title differently. But I don't have Site Title on the rest of the pages, all they show is page name

you go to your artio config under your components tab

then click on
View/Edit Custom Redirects

find your frontpage URL,it will look like this and should be first on the list

ndex.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

put a check in the box as the same line as the frontpage url

on top right click edit

enter your new title in the title box

click save

you may have to refresh your cache and browser a few times and click on the home page link for it to appear, but appear it will

You guys are great. Thank you. There is just one issue. The format of my title tags is "page name - site name"

So my Home page use to be "Home - site name" Now you guys have showed me how to alter the "home" part of the title tag but how can I get rid of it all together so that my title tag for my home page is "site name" only.
