we are having problem with duplicate url's.

even if we delete all the url's in the duplicate url's tab and purge them.

it will again have all those url's
in the confguration.. we have it as follows.

creation of new url's: YES
Number duplicate url's: YES
i am not sure why it's not doing it.
please help.

the reason why such URLs keep appearing is most likely the fact, that at several places in your site, you have some original non-SEF URLs, that after conversion to SEF give the same result.

This can be prevented in 2 ways:
1. make sure all the original non-SEF URLs are the same if they are referring to the same content (there are often minor not important parameter in which the URLs are differing and that cause the duplicates; a common example is e.g. the manufacturer_id in Virtuemart, in case the manufacturer/vendor changes from time to time; then there exist several different URLs which differ only in the value of this variable -> so the non-SEF URL format is different, but they still lead to the same resulting nice SEF URL);
- in this case, you need to make sure all such URLs are "unified' and there are no outdated ones

2. another way is to try to adjust the JoomSEF (or its extensions) settings so that the difference in the non-SEF URLs is also projected to the SEF URLs;
using the manufacturer example from above, this would e.g. mean adding the manufacturer name or id to the SEF URL (this can be e.g. configured for the VirtueMart SEF extension)
