TOPIC: Artio SEF configuration save

Artio SEF configuration save 17 years, 10 months ago #1364

Hi Everybody, I installed today artiosef locally on two test sites and everything works fine, with an exception. I do not seem to be able to save the configuration. When I hit the save button it asks me if I want to purge automatically generated urls, but when I say ok nothing happens. If I edit the file myself everything works fine, but I am afraid I won't be able to do that on a live site installed by a provider. Any idea? Thanks for any help...

Best regards
Aldo

Hello,

could you please post here what version of JoomSEF are you using?
Is there any error (JS?) reported after you click ok? What happens after you click on it? Are you sure, apache user has sufficient permissions to the configuration file?

Those are the only ideas I have right now base on the symptoms you describe -- some JS fault or non-writable file.

Best regards,
Honza

Hi,

I am using Ario SEF 1.3.3. As I have the site running on my own pc, I tried changing permission to 777. In any case, normally I get an error message when there is a problems with permissions. Uh, Joomla is 1.0.12.

When I change the configuration and try to save it, Artio asks me if I want to purge the automatically generated urls. I say OK and nothing happens. No error message, it just stays on the same window. Very strange. But if I go and change the configuration by hand, then everything works the way it is supposed to!

Any other idea or test that I can try? I forgot to mention that I have the same problem on another pc, same version of Artio but joomla 1.0.11.

It looks like a great piece of software and I would like to use it on a live site!

Cheers
Aldo

Hello,

normally after you click "Ok" to purge the automatically created URL, you should get just the message "Configuration was updated successfully" (or similar). You will however still stay at the same page, that is normal way how it acts.

Now, the basic question - if you change something, click save, and ok in the JS windows and check the config file afterwards - is what you changes stored there or not? Maybe this is just some problem with showing the result message?

Have you tried some other version? Either older, e.g. 1.3.1 or the newest (1.4.0-beta)? Does it act the same?

Honza

Hi,

no, after I click save I do not get any confirmation that the configuration was stored and if I visit the page everything is still as it was!

I have not tried a different version, but I will do it at lunchtime. I will first try the older version, as I am at using it on a live site...

Thank you for your help, I am sure there is a simple solution.

Cheers

Hi,

I tried 1.4 and it works fine. When I save I do see it doing something and I get the message that tells me the configuration was updated.... should I be brave and use it on a live site? If anything goes wrong and I uninstall it, would I have the site back as it was?

Cheers
