I think you are not quite right.The part behind "?" character in links like yoursite.you/article.html?Itemid=xy is considered dynamic by the search engines and their robots and is treated as such, so such link are not considered duplicate content.

I am afraid there is no other possibility with Joomla! v 1.0.x as regards this issue than JoomSEF provides. You have either decide between limiting Joomla's functionality, having these partly dynamic URLs or having some duplicates. We are not aware about any other technical possibility that could improve this.

I use V 1.5 registered version (paid), and I still have the duplicate content problem.
I have been looking for a solution for weeks with other JoomSEF versions and was hoping this would be solved in this version, but it is not.

Perhaps the problem is not within JoomSEF, but in Joomla, but there has to be a way to stop the generation of multiple content.

This is a big SEO issue.

Hi Trond, thank you for your post. Up until now it seemed I was the only one that raised this issue. I cant believe that people dont understand how SEO unfriendly duplicate content is.

I applied the patch mentioned in this post and was able to remove duplicate entries for an older Joomsef version (1.2.*), but with 1.3 and newer version it just doesnt work

Please, if you find a solution to this please let me know. Id really like to make it work because Joomsef is definitely the best SEF component for joomla out there, bu unfortunately unusable for serious SEOs at the moment.

Since the Attio in fact made a SEF/SEO application it makes me wonder why this problem has not been solved. This should be a basic before even publishing the software.

I find it hard to accept that I manually have to create "read more" links from a static frontpage if I want to solve this problem. Isn't this why CMS systems was developed - to stop doing this?

I like JoomSEF, and I find it very useful, but I cannot publish it on the net before this problem is solved, and therefore the application is useless.

if you have any specific ideas what and how to improve, we are open to listen to that. However, I think that JoomSEF now provides almost maximum that is possible in Joomla! at this moment, you just need to use it in the right way. That means that to prevent duplicates, you also need to create links in Joomla! in the right way, be aware of Itemids, etc.

Anyway, if you have some specific suggestion what should be solved, just post it here.
