My site was getting anywhere between 15-30 visits a day from Google using Joomla's built in SEO, where it puts /content/view/id/id type of structure. Since I started using JoomSEF, the duplicate content really killed my rankings. Now I am lucky to get 2-5 visitors from Google. I've been editing my robots.txt and .htaccess to see if I can fix the problems with duplicate content getting into the SERPs but so far it's been very frustrating because I still can't get Google traffic.
Since I was screwing around with all of those little append ID options and stuff, now most of the google results lead to 404 pages. My search traffic is really extremely low right now and I am having a lot of trouble fixing it. Maybe I should just turn off JoomSEF and go back to Joomla's SEO feature.
That, or maybe I can contact Google and tell them to purge all of my results and start over again... is that possible?
When I was using Joomla's SEO, my pages would rank on the first pages of Google for the title of the article. Now with all of JoomSEF's duplicate content and 404 crap running amuck, I can't even get my pages to show up when I search for the exact title of my article.

Post edited by: Phishie, at: 2007/05/31 21:58
