TOPIC: Memory error in Manage SEF URLs

Memory error in Manage SEF URLs 11 years, 6 months ago #39545

Hi -

When I try to select the Manage SEF URLs menu option, I get the error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 82857644 bytes) in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/libraries/phputf8/mbstring/core.php on line 121

Why would it possibly be trying to allocate that much memory?

Is it possible that something is corrupted? What's the best way to troubleshoot this?

Thanks,
Neal

Dear nealbjoomla,

you will need to increase the memory limit allowed for PHP on your web server, or ask your web host company to do it for you.

This error has already handled here at our forum :) If you find some other problem, please, try to find solution using the searching box before posting.

Hope it will help you ;)

Hi -

Yes, I searched and I have seen the same response - ask you host to increase your memory, which I did. The PHP memory is now 256MB and the error is still occurring. The host said that increasing the memory further will DEGRADE the site performance significantly, since the memory amount is per process.

Is there a problem with JoomSEF that causes it to use so much memory as compared with other extensions?

Is there ANY work-around to this error, after having raised the PHP memory to 256MB?

Thanks,
Neal

P.S. I searched and have not seen any answers to the two questions above.
