TOPIC: MySQL process causing probems after update

MySQL process causing probems after update 13 years ago #25922

After updating to 3.9.1 my site has become very slow

I have looked at the MySQL process list as it was running and there was a really long
query:

SELECT * FROM `jos_sefurls` WHERE `origurl` =
'index.php?option=com_virtuemart&category_id=33&page=shop.browse&product_typ
e_6_colour[0]=White&product_type_6_colour[1]=Raspberry&product_type_6_colour_com
p=find_in_set_any&product_type_6_size[0]=Medium&product_type_6_size_comp=find_in
_set_any&product_type_id=6' AND (`trashed` = '0') LIMIT 2;

This was taking nearly five seconds to compute and after it was finished, the website
began to rocket. I found this by enabling the MySQL slow query log which can be found in
'/var/lib/mysql/mysqld-slow.log'.

Now when I try to open the component in the back end of the site I get a servr error or time out and can't open it.

Please help me fix this issue.

Many thanks

David

I think the issue is that the url database is too large. I also run Cherry Picker which as created urls for just about every combination or my product list.
Still can't get into artio sef component in the back end so will have to clear table in database to see if that will help.

OK for those that are interested I think I have managed to fix this issue.
First I took complete backup of database then emptied the jos_sefurls
This allowed me to load the component again in the back end of my site. Did another purge just to make sure.
Then went to extension manager and went to virtuemart extension. Turned off all cherry picker urls so not to create 1000s of unwanted urls in the database. also turned off the cart urls as can't see the point of creating urls in the database for every sale combination. Left check sef urls on.

This appears to have got my site up and running again.

WARNING if you have cherry picker then make sure the sef urls are turned off otherwise you too could end up with a database full of unwanted urls that could kill your site. Surprised this is not set as default.

Hi,
I'm sorry I haven't got to you earlier, glad to hear you've managed to get your site working. Yes, cherry picker may generate quite a lot of URLs, we'll consider disabling it by default.
