I had same issue after i tried to add another folder.
If you click image or gallery button, in popup window you'll notice small link named "root".
Try click it and images should work again.

Current image system doesn't work well.
- If we want to add folder, "JFolder::files: Path is not a folder" error pops up.
- If we don't want to use folders we will end with loads of images crammed in one folder.

IMHO Artio should implemented that each property uses its own folder named like property ID.
With this we would have better grasp over image managment.
Also,
- image upload popup window could be a bit bigger
- ability to upload more than one image at once would be more than welcome

I know that my answer came a bit late, but if you still have this issue this could solve it for you as well.

Update
I've found issue with image managing system.
Folder names cannot be numbers.
- If I create folder named 11, system will not be able to enter it.
- if I create folder named 1, system will throw that "JFolder::files: Path is not a folder" after you enter it.

So solution will be:
- not to use numbers as folder names
- if you need to use numbers in folder name, folder name shouldn't start with number
This is works: "somename1".
This doesn't work: "1somename"
