Thank you so much!!
Removing the errors doesn't help, they're back in a matter of hours. Find attached an image of the 404 log. Please note that all these files work in fact, and my website works fine on all mayor browsers.
Could this have anything to do with old devices visiting my site? Somehow for them the files do not work and generate errors? Or something else?

My 404 log is showing hundreds of jpg/png/css/js files, but all these files are actually working just fine.
Can anybody help me figure out why this is happening? Should I take the 404 log serious, or is this a Joomsef issue (showing false errors)?
Thanks!

I got a solution:
In the JoomSef extensions pay for the Virtuemart plugin and in there, set inside the "extension settings" the "cherry picker settings" to yes:
Add product type to URL
Add product type ID to URL
Add product type parameter name to URL
Now go to the tab "Common", still inside the virtuemart plugin of Joomsef, and add in "Custom non-SEF variables" the variables that you use for the filtering of CherryPicker. I inserted "type;quality" and now these values are not used in the SEF urls!

Hi!
I use the module CherryPicker on my Virtuemart2 shopto let my visitors filter my categories. On one category I give 3 filtering methods (quality, color, size), each with several options.
Somehow, all the options the cherrypicker gives, are stored as SEF urls. This resulted in 2.5 million (!!) sef urls and my shop to experience problems.
I see that the VM extension in JoomSef 4 gives a few options for the cherry picker plugin, but I dont see how I can turn off the SEF URL generation?
How can I disable the SEF url creation of options that cherry picker gives?
