I have a bot which is hitting my site every few minutes with urls in this format:

www.domain.com/content/randomnumber.htm

JoomSEF is creating entries for this (hence I have lots!). The entries created look like this:

SEF URL : content/1.htm
REAL URL: index.php?option=com_content&id=0&limit=9&limitstart=9&task=3692.htm

SEF URL : content/2.htm
REAL URL: index.php?option=com_content&id=0&limit=18&limitstart=9&task=3542.htm

etc

Sure enough, if I visit www.domain.com/content/randomnumber.htm I correctly get redirected to the frontpage as the page does not exist. So why does JoomSEF create an entry for it?

The bot is a google bot that looks like it has gone crazy!

I have the latest version of JoomSEF.

Thanks

Search engines have my clients site content registered in the old SEO context. For example:

www.vectoranomaly.com/content/view/411

After installing ARTIO JoomSEF al works fine and 404 pages get redirected accordingly. Search engines still have reference to the old SEO URL's but the content was removed so no longer exists. When someone clicks on the old URL format, instead of a 404, it actually tries to load the page giving a 'Not Authorized to view this resource' error message.

In fact, ANY attempt to load an old SEF URL (with 'content' in the URL) that does not exist brings the error message. For example:

www.vectoranomaly.com/content/view/432132321
www.vectoranomaly.com/content/randomwords

I basically need a rule in the htaccess or equivalent that redirects to a 404 if 'content/' is in the URL it seems.

Any advice?

Thanks
