Hi there, we are currently experienceing alot of performance issue when SEF is enabled. Can you possible recommend what I should set the cache size to. we are getting around 9000 URLS in the database after a few days. so do I need to set it handle this value?
Also is there a specific .htaccess file I should be using with ARTIO or is the standard Joomla SEF one ok?
many thanks

I have been adding Meta Info, PageTitles and alises to my URLs via the JoomSEF plugin.
I do not see a way to export a backup - is this possible? (i see an import, but no export)
If I Purge SEF URLs and clear the cache. Will all the info I have added to Meta & Alises be deleted and I need to start again, or would this be saved anywhere?
Again I have read the relevant sections in the manual, but am still unsure and wanted to ask before doing anything.
Thanks,

We have launched our new site and everything going quite well as we bug fix..
ANYWAY
I am currently 301 redirecting old URLs to new.
Is the Managing SEF URLS > Aliases ok to use for this (does it 301 properly to the new url) and will Google eventually change the URL..... or should I simply use the htaccess to do the 301s?
I read the manual, page 50 under 8.3 SEF URLs Aliases - but I am still unsure
Thanks.

Hi there I've setup canonical links to appear but I can't seem to find any reference to them.
I have for instance 3 separate URLs pointing to something like www.mysite.com/myproduct
the URLs are something like
index.php?option=com_virtuemart&category_id=13&flypage=flypage.tpl&manufacturer_id=1&page=shop.product_details&product_id=110&Itemid=142
index.php?option=com_virtuemart&category_id=25&flypage=flypage.tpl&manufacturer_id=1&page=shop.product_details&product_id=110&Itemid=160
index.php?option=com_virtuemart&category_id=62&flypage=flypage.tpl&manufacturer_id=1&page=shop.product_details&product_id=110&Itemid=200
I cannot see any refernece to <link rel="canonical" in my source anywhere
is there something I'm missing
My Joomla version is 1.5.23
Artio version is 3.9.5

In addition to this - I have another problem - I have a menu that is generated Item ID that are Lower (ie were genereated first) than the ones I would like. Is there away change the preferential order of the ItemIDs that are used to generate the SEF links.
So to cut a long story short. We would like to have just 1 URL for each page BUT the Item ID that is being used to generate these SEF urls isn't always the one we would like.
OR can you advise - is it OK to have duplicate URLs in terms of SEO. Is there a way of marking all duplicates as canonical or all referencing the same pge that google will be happy with.

Hi There, I wonder if you can help. I have at least 8 references to 1 particular product throughout many different categories. When the sef link is generated it always takes the 1st Menu instance of the the products as the master product. Is that right? Is there anyway I can force it to take the 1st menu instance that is say 3 levels down instead? We are trying to avoid duplicate content/urls but would rather the 3rd level products were defined as the masters. If that makes any sense.
Many thanks
Derek

its ok now - eventially found it
in another thread
You do not write to what components this relates, but if this would be e.g. VirtueMart URL, then the setting to change would be found in
JoomSEF / Manage Extensions / VirtueMart
and then at Common tab, you will find this "Use Menu Title" option.

Hi we have literaly just bought the component and installed fine. 1st impressions looks really good. we are however experiencing the duplication of categories. It seems that we are getting Virtuemart categories AND Joomla categories intermixed. We have used Joomla menus to create links to vm categories.
Can you shed any light on this - many thanks
